I was born in Sheffield in April 1956. I studied Physics at Manchester University and graduated with a 2:2 Honours degree in the summer of 1977 whereupon I moved to Southampton to take up a position in the marketing department of Esso Chemicals.

In 1981 I was moved to Belgium to work on the development of a new low pressure polymer Linear Low density Polyethene.

Over the next 14 years I gained experience in various areas of the business including manufacturing, sales, marketing and technology. These included management positions such as the worldwide Escomer wax, Polymer films marketing, & Polypropene product development managers. During this time I was put on special assignment in Melbourne Australia to evaluate the potential purchase of a competitor’s polymer production facility.

In 1993 I returned to the UK as the UK & Ireland Polymers sales manager. I was also personally responsible for worldwide polymer sales to the TetraPak group of companies headquartered in Lausanne Switzerland.

In 1996 I returned to Belgium as Technology Manager for Europe the Middle & Far East. During the next 2 years I was also put on a special part time assignment on a world wide Marketing & Technology process redesign (MTVC-Marketing Technology Value Creation). In 1998 I returned to the UK and resumed my UK & Ireland sales management role before leaving the company in 2003.

I joined the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) in 2003 and together with Kings’ School Winchester and Southampton University I qualified as a teacher in the summer 2004 and was offered a position at Kings’. In addition to teaching Physics & Chemistry I am now the enterprise education ‘Hub’ manager for Hampshire & the Isle of Wight and co-ordinate all the enterprise activities within the school.
